TvN’s series, “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay,” and Mnet’s audition show, “I-LAND,” have been nominated for this year’s International Emmy Awards, which are given to non-U.S. shows and actors.

The International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (IATAS) announced Thursday the list of nominees including the two Korean shows.

“It’s Okay to Not Be Okay,” a romantic series which was aired from June to August of 2020 revolving around Gang-tae, a caretaker in a psychiatric ward who refuses to love, and Moon-young, a famous children’s book writer who is known to have an antisocial personality disorder, was nominated in the TV Movie & Mini-Series category. “I-LAND,” a K-pop audition show which aired from June to September of 2020, was listed in the Non-Scripted Entertainment category.

No Korean program has won the award in those categories to date. In 2010, MBC’s documentary, “Mom and the Red Bean Cake,” won the International Emmy in the documentary category. Drama series such as Netflix’s “Kingdom,” MBC’s “Splash Splash Love” and KBS’s “River Where Moon Rises” have been nominated in the past, but did not win the award. Actor Jang Hyuk had been nominated for his lead role in the KBS drama, “The Slave Hunters.”

The IATAS said there are 44 nominees across 11 categories and from a record 24 countries. The winners will be announced during a ceremony in New York, Nov. 22, at a location to be announced soon.
