Yerin, a former member of now-defunct K-pop act GFriend, will take the lead role in the upcoming web series titled, “The Witch Shop: Reopen.”

She will play a witch named Lee Hae-na, the owner of a fictional witch shop, according to her management company Sublime Artist Agency, Thursday.

The coming-of-age series follows Lee and a timid high school student named Ji-ho, who team up to revive Lee’s shop that is on the verge of closure. Love and friendship will be its main themes.

Yonghee of K-pop boy group CIX will act opposite Yerin, according to reports. Director Jung Sung-bin and writer Ahn Se-hwa, who were behind the success of 2019 web drama “The Witch Store,” will take the helm of the upcoming series.

“I am thrilled to showcase my unexplored side through the series,” Yerin said. “I am quite nervous about making my acting debut, but I am striving to come up with a good performance.”

Yerin debuted as part of GFriend in 2015 with the EP “Season of Glass.” Prior to its dissolution in May, the six-piece act ― made up of Sowon, Eunha, Yuju, SinB, Umji and Yerin ― released a string of hits including “Glass Bead” (2015), “Me gustas tu” (2015) and “Apple” (2020). The group’s last album, “回:Walpurgis Night” came out last November.

“The Witch Shop: Reopen” is slated to premiere in December.
