Actor and director Kim Seung-woo is set to direct his second series, “The Driver,” with actors Ahn Jae-wook and Lee Tae-ran as the leads.

The web series’ production company, The Queen AMC, run by Kim, revealed the series’ cast on Wednesday, announcing that it will begin production next month.

The short-form drama will revolve around a man named Tae-joon (Ahn), who now works as a designated driver, after getting fired from his previous job. Lee will play his wife, Mi-sun, who optimistically supports her husband to settle into his new job.

“Short-form series feature mostly the teen and romance genres at the moment. So I want this series to open up the chance for different genres like drama,” Kim said through a statement. “I intend to shed light on the ups and downs of different people who make up our society and to encourage those who are going through difficult times. I will try my best to convey a meaningful message through the series.”

The series will consist of 12 episodes and star various famous actors, including Oh Man-seok, Lee Jong-hyeok, Oh Ha-young and Yoon Hyun-min, as well as TV personalities such as Hong Seok-cheon and Lee Soo-geun.

Kim, who has an extensive portfolio as an actor since he debuted in 1990, made his directorial debut last year with the romance film, “Forgotten Love.” He recently directed his first web series, “Love Trigger,” which was released last month.

“The Driver” will be released in the latter half of this year.
